Flourish Australia has multiple exciting opportunities for Peer Workers to join our team in Orange working under the Pathways to Community Living Initiative (PCLI)!

The available positions are closed-term part-time until 30 June 2021 with the successful candidates working a Monday to Friday. All positions are classified at Level 3 on the Flourish Australia Enterprise Agreement (2018).

About the Opportunities

The PCLI is a coordinated state-wide approach to support people who have experienced a long stay (over 365 days) in hospital to re-establish their lives in the community. You will be integrated into the long stay units at Bloomfield hospital, working across units as determined by the PCLI Project Manager.

Peer Workers work in the community to support people accessing our services with a lived experience of mental health issues achieve their hopes and dreams. On a day to day basis you will be required to:

  • Provide intensive support to the person you are supporting.
  • Be instrumental in supporting the consumer and their carer to complete standardised assessments to inform the transition process, and work with the consumer to increase levels of social participation and connectedness in preparation for leaving the hospital.
  • Work with the Multi-Disciplinary Team to advocate for an increased understanding of the consumer's experience and improved outcomes for consumers and carers.
  • Work periods of outreach to support consumers through the initial phase of transition to life in the community.
  • Utilise your skills and knowledge as a Peer Worker to run groups, provide one on one support, support people accessing the warm line and also the respite centre.
  • Listen to people and create opportunities and activities that meet their interests and goals.
  • Ensure that individual support is provided that meets people's recovery journey goals and is strengths based and led by the person wherever possible.
  • Be ‘hands on’ and involved in direct service delivery.

Please note - Successful candidates must maintain a Class C driver’s licence and proof of comprehensive insurance must be provided when required.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  1. A personal lived experience of a mental health issue.
  2. Entry-level for graduates with a relevant degree in behavioural sciences or human services; or
  3. A relevant associate diploma or certificate qualification with relevant experience; or
  4. At least 1-years relevant experience in mental health attained through previous appointments
  5. A current Australian drivers licence.
